PUPPY PRESCHOOL

Socialisation and training for puppies, education for owners.

The early stages of any dog’s life are incredibly important. It is during this time that we introduce your puppy to stimuli, activities and environments they are likely to encounter in everyday life. This period is the optimum time for puppies to learn healthy socialisation practices with other dogs and humans.

Halifax Vet Puppy Preschool is a 4 week course for puppies aged between 8 – 16 weeks. Our Puppy Preschool classes tick all the boxes for this early and appropriate socialisation. The classes are designed around preventative care by encouraging a calm, well-mannered dog through positively reinforced techniques.

Puppy Preschool classes are held here at the Clinic on Thursday evening at 6:30pm. The full course is $100. This includes an information evening to address any concerns or questions, a booklet including information around training techniques, problematic puppy behaviour and honing social skills, as well as a puppy pack with vouchers and puppy-friendly products.

Puppies are eligible for Puppy Preschool after they have had their first round of vaccinations. All family members are welcome.

This course is run by our qualified Canine Behaviourist, Sandy Fitzgerald. Sandy is also available to help through a range of other Canine Behavioural services.

Hear what our customers have to say

We choose to travel from Mapua to the Halifax Vet Clinic, Nelson with our pets because we find the vet team to be highly skilled and extremely professional. Their diagnostic skills are excellent, and their verbal explanations and written documentation ensure the pet owners are fully informed of the problems, subsequent treatment and aftercare.

Halifax has extremely sophisticated diagnostic equipment which enables fast, on the spot diagnosis, and hence quicker and more targeted treatment. The veterinary nurses also have a wide knowledge base and are extremely helpful, especially with phone queries.

In view of the above we are totally satisfied our loved pets will get the best care and attention possible.

Jill and Peter Smillie, Mapua

A big thank you to Josie’s extended family at Halifax Veterinary Centre. I wish to thank you all for making Josie feel special not just to me but also to yourselves as well. Your care for her over the years is something that I will always treasure and respect. She was my special friend for nine years and I feel we were all lucky to have a share in her friendship.
